Dear friends and partners of Zanmi Lasante,
Today, on World Humanitarian Day, we recognize the power of compassion in action. We see every day that compassion is not just a feeling, it’s a force for change. It’s the courage to act, the willingness to listen and the determination to make a difference. At Zanmi Lasante, we are guided by this principle in everything we do, from providing vital medical care to strengthening Haiti’s healthcare system.
Our country has faced many challenges, but our collective response has always been one of unity. We’ve seen time and again that when we join forces, we amplify our impact and ensure that our work is rooted in the needs of the people we serve. The road to a healthier, more prosperous Haiti is paved not by individual efforts but by the hands of many working in unison.
Whether it’s our drivers facing uncertainty on the roads, our medical staff leaving their families for rotations that can last weeks, our vast network of community health workers reaching deep into communities to ensure our patients are accompanied and supported, or our technical and administrative teams working miracles to ensure medicines are purchased and staff are paid on time, every member of our organization plays a crucial role in this mission.
We know that our nation’s future depends on the next generation of healthcare professionals, which is why we are deeply committed to medical education. By training future doctors, nurses and healthcare workers, we’re ensuring that tomorrow’s humanitarian actors are ready to take on the task of building a healthier, more hopeful Haiti.
Together, we can turn compassion into action, collaboration into progress, and education into a better future for all. So we remain united in our commitment to the people of Haiti, because when we work together, there is no limit to the change we can achieve.
