Tom White

From the outset, Tom White has enabled Partners In Health to do “whatever it takes” to improve the lives and health of patients in vulnerable communities around the world, whether by funding the construction of a small clinic in Cange, buying a microscope or paying $30,000 per patient for PIH’s first multidrug-resistant tuberculosis program.
Owner and president of construction company J.F. White Contracting Co, he helped found PIH with his first gift of $1 million and then systematically gave away his fortune - tens of millions of dollars - selling his company, property and home to continue supporting PIH’s projects to alleviate human suffering and poverty. He passed away peacefully in Boston on January 7, 2011.
