Odilia Paul, 25, hails from the remote mountainous area of Morne-Michel, in the commune of Lascahobas. Since childhood, she has lived with reduced mobility following the loss of her foot, making daily life in such a remote location particularly challenging. Simple tasks, such as fetching food or medicine, become a real challenge. Public transport is almost non-existent, and the nearest health center is a long way from her home, making regular medical visits difficult. Despite these challenges, she perseveres.

Today, Odilia is the mother of a 7-year-old boy, and she fights every day to offer him a better life, despite the difficult conditions in her community.
Odilia walked more than 2.5 hours on crutches to reach a mobile clinic organized by the medical team at Hôpital Bon Sauveur de Cange in Peligre. Her mother, who had been in Peligre the previous week, learned about the clinic from Isaac, the local ASCP, and was quick to pass on the information to Odilia, knowing of her daughter’s recurring health problems.
“This mobile clinic is the first one I’ve attended,” explains Odilia. “I came because I haven’t been feeling well the last few days, and I can’t afford to go to a distant health center. When I heard that health professionals were coming here, I saw it as an opportunity not to be missed.”
As soon as the clinic opened, Odilia was already there, among the other patients. She received medical care, personalized advice, and medication, all free of charge.

“Being here feels so good,” she confides. “I was listened to, welcomed, and received everything I needed. This initiative is a blessing for us.”
“Thanks to you, I received quality care without spending a penny,” says Odilia. “You went where few others dare to go. You treated us with dignity, and I hope these clinics continue so others like me have a chance. May God bless you and keep you so you can continue this work.”
Odilia is not defined by her challenges but by her ability to move forward. She inspires those around her with her perseverance.
