Held by his father's determination and the support of a committed team.

Thanks to a mobile clinic at Zanmi Lasante, Kedson, 1 year 4 months old and suffering from acute malnutrition, has regained his health.

In the heights of Guebot, a landlocked locality in the Los Palma communal section of Hinche commune, life is hard, and resources scarce. This is where Kedson, a little boy barely a year and four months old, began his life in the shadow of the loss of his mother, Elièse, who died a month after his birth. Deprived of breast milk, proper care and a stable environment, Kedson quickly fell ill.

His father, Killik, did what he could. This quiet, courageous man found himself alone, with a distressed baby in his arms, and few options around him. Persistent fever, chronic diarrhea, severe weight loss… He didn’t know where else to turn. That’s when a community health worker, Julma Charles, told him about a mobile clinic organized by Zanmi Lasante in the nearby locality of Angoman, as part of the Nutrition / CFGB program.

Killik

Killik goes there, his heart worried but buoyed by hope. That day, Kedson is carefully looked after by the team present: nurses, nutritionists, health workers. The diagnosis was quickly made: acute malnutrition. Treatment began immediately. Therapeutic nutritional products, medical assistance and psychosocial support for the father. Follow-up is organized, despite geographical isolation, despite fatigue, despite limited means.

Killik returns every week, never missing an appointment. Little by little, Kedson is gaining weight. He reacts. He laughs. He’s standing up.

This week, back at Angoman, the team saw him again. And those who saw him for the first time can’t believe it. The change is profound. It’s not a miracle, but the fruit of rigorous, coordinated, human effort. It’s the result of a care network that works even in the most forgotten areas.

At Zanmi Lasante, every child counts, regardless of whether they live in Port-au-Prince or Guebot. Every life deserves to be defended. And it’s in these remote areas that our commitment takes on its full meaning.

Behind the little body that comes back to life, there’s a father who never gave up, a team that moved, and an organization that believes that children’s health should not depend on the chance of their birth.

Help us continue to act in forgotten areas. Every donation enables a child like Kedson to receive vital care, and isolated parents to be supported.
