Supporting staff at Saint-Michel Healthcare Center

Supporting teams to maintain care

Fri, Mar 27 2026

The Centre de Santé St Michel, in Boucan Carré, remains an essential point of access to healthcare for the population. The teams there provide patient care despite the fact that working conditions have deteriorated sharply in recent weeks. Activities have resumed with the teams in place, mobilized to maintain services and meet needs.

A mission was deployed on the instructions of Zanmi Lasante’s Executive Management to accompany this phase. The delegation included administrative, clinical, operational, financial and mental health managers, enabling direct support on several aspects of day-to-day work.

Exchanges with staff focused on the organization of activities, conditions of care and constraints encountered in the continuity of services. Teams shared the adjustments they had implemented, as well as the needs they had identified to continue their work. Orientations were provided for structuring the continuation of activities, maintaining quality of care standards and ensuring a functional working environment.

The issue of mental health figured prominently in the discussions. Stress, fatigue and worries have a direct impact on teams. Psychosocial support was presented as a necessary element in maintaining activities, with a reminder of the devices available and encouragement to use them.

The mission also enabled communication between teams and coordinating bodies to be strengthened, in order to ensure regular monitoring of needs and adapt responses. Services are assured, and the teams continue their work with patients.

Maintaining care relies on the ability to support healthcare professionals and give them the means to continue.

Maintaining services at Boucan Carré depends directly on the means available to support the teams. Your contribution will help strengthen this support and guarantee access to care for the population.
