In July 2003, Péralte Louis Jacques walked through the doors of Hôpital Bon Sauveur de Cange for the first time as an orderly in the maternity ward. At the time, he hadn’t yet completed his classical studies, but he knew he wanted to put himself at the service of his community.
For ten years, he worked alongside the midwives and nurses, carefully observing the gestures, rigor and coordination that save lives. One day, a pregnant woman arrives in the middle of an eclampsia attack. Péralte assists the team, taking vital signs and helping to position her. The patient was saved. This moment triggers a conviction in him: he wants to become a nurse.

In 2013, he graduates from high school and leaves to study nursing at Notre Dame University in Hinche. Four years later, he graduated. This was followed by internships and volunteer missions in several hospitals in the Zanmi Lasante network: Hinche, Belladère, Mirebalais. Each experience broadened his skills and understanding of the realities on the ground.
In February 2022, he returned to Cange as a line nurse in the surgery department. Eighteen months later, he was appointed head nurse of the department. His role today: organizing work, supervising post-operative follow-up, ensuring that every patient receives quality care and maintaining a strong team spirit.
The results are visible. Follow-ups are better coordinated, post-operative complications are reduced, and staff work in a climate where everyone feels listened to and supported. For Péralte, seeing an operated patient leave with a smile, hearing a sincere “mèsi anpil anpil”, is the best reward.

“Hôpital Bon Sauveur de Cange is more than a building, it’s a pillar of healthcare for our region. We must protect it, keep it alive, and continue to welcome all those who need care there.”
