There come times in the life of an organization when the mission alone is no longer enough to move forward. Moments when continuing requires courage, lucidity and thoughtful choices.
We’re going through one of those moments.
In recent months, Zanmi Lasante has faced unprecedented challenges. The temporary closure of the Hôpital Universitaire de Mirebalais has disrupted care for thousands of patients, while putting considerable pressure on our entire network. But HUM is only one element among many. It’s our entire system that’s being put to the test: medical training, specialized services, essential infrastructures… so many pillars now weakened.
Faced with this reality, we have to make tough choices. Rethink our priorities. And focus our forces on what matters most: people, care, and the values that underpin our commitment.
Zanmi Lasante has evolved over the years. We have grown, learned, and above all understood that resilience does not mean preserving everything, but knowing what to protect at all costs.
This is why, in this difficult context, we are making an assertive choice: to continue to care, to train, to support - even with fewer resources, even in uncertainty.
But we will need support.
If you have believed, even for a day, in this model where healthcare is driven by social justice and not dictated by profit, then today is the day to walk alongside us. Not out of charity, but out of solidarity and conviction.
Because what we stand for goes beyond a mere structure. It’s a vision. That of what healthcare in Haiti can be… and can still become.
Your support is more crucial than ever. Faced with the challenges that are weakening our system, we need you to maintain access to care and social justice.Make a donation today to walk alongside us and support our mission.
