Reflections of the Executive Director

Staying connected to those we serve

Tue, Sep 2 2025

At the heart of everything we do, one thing remains essential: our link with communities.

This link isn’t just slogans. It is built every day, through concrete gestures: when a mobile clinic leaves at dawn for a remote locality, when a nurse calls a patient absent from her appointment, when a team organizes a community education session. Each action nurtures and strengthens this bond, patiently, steadily.

In Haiti, where everything can change overnight, maintaining this relationship is no easy task. We have to protect it, make it evolve, nurture it by reaching out to those who, very often, have access to nothing else.

It is in this closeness that our true ability to heal lies. Not just treating an illness, but establishing a climate of trust, offering continuity, and keeping our word. This is also where our responsibility is expressed: to remain present, unconditionally.

We often talk about resilience. But the real challenge is not just to stand firm: it’s to continue weaving links, listening, and adapting our responses, even when everything around falters.

Once again this month, I’d like to salute this discreet but fundamental commitment: that of staying connected. For this connection is, at heart, our greatest strength.
